Making the animated gifThe idea I had for the gif was of a spinning wand emitting stars as it twirled. That was it - nothing more! I did it to amuse my daughter who was into Harry Potter...
I then amended it for use together with a Halloween professor gif on Cyberphysics.

When I made up this gif (about 7 years ago) space was at a premium on my computer and I deleted my early attemps to gain disc space - now I tend to catalogue anything I work on - they may we be used/adapted in a future project! Stage 2 making the animation - click here |

I tried various 'wand' designs and colours and made graphics of stars. Rather than have a standard 'perfect' star I made the design choice of distorted ones. I tried out both at a later stage but preferred the effect I got with those. It is a good 
idea to make up a range of alternative forms when you design - keep them all! You never know when they will come in useful.
