Font Colours

Colours are made up of red, green and blue pixels of different intensity. See colour in Cyberphysics for the background to this.

There are 256 variations of intensity of clour varying fom 0 to 255 in a typical colour pallet for the computer. Adding the three primary colours of light together in different intensities you can get any shade of colour the human eye can detect! The intensities for Red, Green, Blue are changed from decimal numbers into a base sixteen number (hexadecimal). This has numbers and letters in it. The code for the colour is usually preceded by a hash symbol.

 

#FF0000 has full red and no green or blue so it is red.

#00FF00 has no red, full green and no blue - so it is green

#0000FF has no red or green and full blue - so it is blue.

#FFFF00 has full red and green and no blue - so it is yellow

#FF00FF has full red and blue and no green - so it is magenta

#00FFFF has no red but full green and blue - so it is cyan.
